The Significance of Roll Cleaning in Process Equipment

Roll cleaning goes by many names including doctoring, scraping, flaking, and even knives. No matter the name, a similar goal is trying to be achieved: keeping contaminants or debris off the roll during the production process. Proper roll cleaning saves money by increasing efficiency, decreasing maintenance, and reducing defects. When done incorrectly, it can have the opposite effect and potentially cause damage to the roll.

The most common roll cleaning applications are found in paper, metals, nonwovens, food processing, building and construction materials, drum drying, and synthetic fibers. But we have found that roll cleaning has benefits in a variety of industries and applications; basically any continuous process that uses rolls.

The following on-demand webinar discusses how roll cleaning works, best practices, and the benefits of proper roll cleaning. Examples of proper usage in various industrial markets and potential cost savings are also demonstrated.
