Meet Team Kadant – Jerry Vandoros, Sales/Director Tissue Market Sales

Department/Title: Sales / Director Tissue Market Sales
Worked at Kadant Solutions Since:1998

Tell me about your career path and how you got to Kadant.
I started in inside sales and within two years moved to an outside s sales role selling Kadant's doctoring products in the northeast region of the U.S. After spending five years on the road, I went back into the office in an applications role and then moved on to Product Line Manager for Kadant's doctoring products.

What’s one thing you’ve learned in your time at Kadant?
The customer is the most important person in the organization. Listen to them, they will tell you what is important and what you should be focusing on.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Being at a customer site watching a piece of our equipment run and seeing how it can bring value to the customer.

Are you involved in any professional organizations related to pulp & paper? If so, what is your role and experience with those organizations?
I am a member of the TAPPI Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee, serving as chair for a period. Being a member provides the opportunity to make invaluable contacts within the tissue industry and to learn a lot about tissue making and Yankee operation from smart and experienced people.

Tell me about your family.
I have twin daughters, Emily and Olivia.  I'm a twin so I guess it really does run in the family.

What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I am addicted to golf. I would play it full time if I didn’t have to earn a living. It’s the perfect mix of mental and physical ability and it’s a game you can play your whole life and never master.

Do you have a favorite sports team?
I am blessed to live in an area that has the best professional sports teams – the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots,  Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins. I have witnessed 15 championships in my lifetime.

Where would you like to go on your dream vacation?
My parents grew up on the island of Kefalonia, Greece, and still have a house there. We also have family living in the same village. I would like to be able to go there more often to expose my children to the place and culture their grandparents grew up in.
