Thickening
Disc Filter
Kadant has recently developed a family of disc filters, with a new design taking into consideration a reduction in maintenance cost, damage risks for the wires with subsequent fiber losses, and improvement of the filtrate water quality.
Working principle
Stock is sent between several discs with filtering surfaces which are maintained under vacuum. The water is filtered through the thick fiber mat which is created due to the vacuum. This results in very clear filtrate, and virtually no fiber losses.
Applications
- Thickening of stock - typically from 0.5% to 12%
- Save All Applications - fiber recovery from the excess water from the paper machine and water circuit closure
Benefits
- Higher vacuum rate
- Small disc volumes
- Plastic free discs decreasing maintenance cost and damage risks
- Optimized de-aeration of the pulp improving both the operation and the capacity of the disc filter
Alternative solutions for thickening include the Inclined Screw Press and the Screw Press.
